1283688 Gas storage container APPLICATION DES GAZ 29 Oct 1970 [5 Nov 1969 2 July 1970] 51343/70 Heading F4P [Also in Division F1] A generally spherical liquefied gas storage container has a number of indentations 6 between the equatorial plane of the container and one or both of its polar zones, the indentations being capable of expanding outwardly in the event of the internal pressure exceeding a predetermined value, thus providing some relief of the excess pressure by the increase in volume and a visual indication thereof. The indentations 6 may be part spherical as shown, and arranged to facilitate stacking of the containers, or annular and arranged in horizontal planes, Fig. 5 (not shown), or a series of folds converging from the equatorial plane towards the upper polar zone of the container, Figs. 6, 7 (not shown). A depression in the bottom of the container may provide a stable base. The container is formed from two hemispheres connected by welding or hard soldering in the equatorial plane or hydroformed from a single piece of metal sheet.
|
