<p>Plastic cap with an external skirt having an internal annular rib for engaging an undercut on a bottle mouth, and an ancillary collar which prevents the skirt dilating sufficiently to come off the bottle top by restraining the bottom of the skirt below the centre of curvature of the internal rib. Pref. the collar has spiked surface for contact with the cap skirt. Pref. the collar is secured to the cap by a bridge and also incorporates a pull tab. The collar is specif. an integral part with the cap when injection moulded and is relocated around the base of the skirt by the moulding ejection system, pref. by a two stage ejection motion. Suitable for capping bottles contg. beverages, esp. if bottled under pressure. The collar is pushed up off the bottom of the flange to allow the skirt to dilate for removal from the the bottle. The flange at the base of the skirt may be thickened to completely support the clamping collar if the cap must remain secure during e.g. pasteurisation.</p> |
