<p>Water-soluble inorganic salts in a non-solvent or in a sat. soln. are reacted with substances providing the same or different anions, in presence of monomers capable of radical polymsn. to polymers or co-polymers which are soluble or insoluble in water. Pref. inorganic salts are sodium bicarbonate, carbonate and/or sulphite and pref. anion donor is SO2. Suitable water-sol. monomers are Na or K acrylates, acrylic or methacrylic acids, while insol. monomers are meth-acrylate or acrylate esters, vinyl acetate, Ca or Mg acrylate, styrene, 1-pentene, vinyl stearate, m-chorstyrene, chloroprene, vinyl laurate or chloride, vinylidene chloride and pentachlorstyrene. Salts grafted with water-sol. polymers are suitable for use in pack-for-pack detergents and for packaging or containers capable of elimination by soln. in water. Those with insol. polymers can be used as constructional materials for vessels, tanks, etc.</p> |
