<p>A conventional percussion cap, for use with striker pin weapons, is force fitted with an intervening sheath of electrical insulation, into the central hole in the cartridge case base. Within the cap a thin high resistance, esp. Mg, wire is connected between the casing of the cap and an external spray contact which engages the interior of the cartridge case using a wide range of configurations which may or may not involve the mechanical/electrical cooperation of the striker-pin anvil within the cap. The wire may carry an auxiliary pellet of trigger material. Simplified military logistics.</p> |
