1343644 Di-isopropyl benzene dihydroperoxide SIGNAL CHEMICAL CO 3 May 1971 [4 May 1970] 12626/71 Heading C2C Di-isopropylbenzene dihydroperoxide is recovered from an oxidation reaction product containing diisopropylbenzene dihydroperoxide, di - isopropylbenzene monohydroperoxide, other reaction by-products and unreacted diisopropylbenzenes by (a) mixing the oxidation reaction product with an amount of waterimmiscible organic solvent in a weight ratio of from 0.1/1 to 6/1; (b) treating the resulting mixture with an aqueous sodium or potassium hydroxide solution of a weight concentration of at least 40% to precipitate the alkali metal salt of the di-isopropylbenzene dihydroperoxide from the solution; (c) separating the solid alkali metal salt from the mixture, and (d) converting the dihydroperoxide salt to di-isopropylbenzene dihydroperoxide. Suitable water-immiscible organic solvents are, for example, benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, and di-isopropyl benzene. |
