<p>A membrane, pref. 200 degrees mu thick, in secured to or superimposed on one or both surfaces of a support felt on which a paper web is supported and the membrane has pores of the order of a few microns which act as anti-retura valves and prevent the paper re-absorbing moisture from the felt after e.g. a squeezing operation. The membrane has a smooth surface so that it does not collect liq. and a low compressibility. Membrane may be a spun bonded fabric formed from non-absorbant fibrelles; a plastic film having micro perforations; a sintered matl.; or a film formed from coalesced particles. Removal of liq. from the paper can be increased by 5-15%.</p> |
