The piston ring, for use with internal combustion engines, is cconstructed of a metal or plastic blank, with continuous or staple carbon fibres introduced so that their density is greater in the outer zone, lying against the cylinder wall, than in the inner zone, contained by the groove in the piston head. The purpose is to provide a lightweight and sprung piston ring through a simple mfg. process.
