1346995 Traffic bollards J W H SMITH 19 April 1971 [6 June 1970] 27467/70 Heading E1G A traffic bollard comprises (a) a replaceable upper portion 10 - e.g. of white moulded plastics - containing electrical illuminating means - e.g. fluorescent tubes and (b) a fixed base portion 16 containing a isolating switch 29. The upper portion 10 being rigidly clamped to the base by means 27 accessible only through a movable panel 131 in the upper portion. The switch 29 is spring-opened and is normally held closed by a cord 41 attached e.g. at 42 - to the upper portion so that if the upper portion is broken or distorted the cord 41 breaks and the switch 29 opens. As shown the base 16 comprises a ground-embedded plate 17 of plastics or concrete, the upper portion 10 being seated on a locating plate and clamped by a bevelled plate 23 engaging a flange 15. |
