Piston ring casting system - direct from cupola of inoculated cast iron into multicore mould stacks

Annular castings are produced in multi-core boxed with a one-sided conicity and ejectors, which are assembled in stacks, locked and cast directly at the cupola. The moulds are made of quartz sand, free from clay and with a suitable bonding medium. The grey cast iron is inoculated with an Fe Si-alloy prior to pouring. The mould stack then passes a cooling bed, it is unlocked in motion and taken to a station where the castings are taken out.
