A turntable stopping apparatus is adapted for use with a turntable of the kind supported for rotation about a rotary axis and for translation along the same axis. The apparatus is provided with at least one engageable stop member connected to the turntable for synchronous movement therewith and with a catch member for engaging the stop member, as the turntable is rotated about the rotary axis, to stop the turntable in a certain position of rotation. The catch member is configured to release the stop member from engagement, on translation of the turntable along the rotary axis, for allowing further turntable rotation until the same or another stop member is engaged.
