<p>Commercial insecticidal prepns. contain >=1 cpd. of formula (I): (where R = H, Cl or lower alkyl) and an inert carrier. (I) is prepd. by reacting a cpd. (II): with a cpd. (III): HO-CH2-C triple bond C-CH2-O (where X = Cl or Br) in inert solvent and in the presence of an acid-binding agent, pref. pyridine in pref. an inert gas atmos. (I) have insecticidal activity and may be used against a large variety of insects, esp Musca domestica. They are also very active against black aphis on beans, potato beetle, codling moths and spint mites. (I) have very low mammalian toxicity and their activity against flies is of the same order as that of pyrethrin or D.</p> |
