[Class 97 (i)] Light - reflecting units for use in advertising or road signs are provided, prefer. ably during the moulding operation, with integral flanges or projections so disposed in transverse planes intermediate the refracting and reflecting ends of the unit that the marginal parts of an aperture in the supporting panel are located between the flanges or projections which coact to retain the unit in position on the panel. As shown in Fig. 1, the reflector 16 has a collar 16a. The part extending to the rear of the collar is of a diameter permitting it to pass through an aperture 17a in the panel 17, and has a groove 16b into which a rubber retaining ring 18 may be inserted and compressed between the edge of the aperture 17b and the flange 16d at the rear of the groove. In a modification, Fig. 6, the reflector is provided to the rear of the collar 16a with lateral projections 16e adapted to be inserted through corresponding recesses 17b at the edge of the panel aperture 17a. Turning of the reflector then causes the edge of the aperture to be clamped between the collar 16<a> and projections 16<e>. Resilient washers may be provided to increase security. In a further modification, Fig. 14, the projections 16<e> may have inclined faces adapted to engage with a clamping action inclined tongues 20<a> on the panel 17 or, as shown, on a metallic cap 20. |
