Explosive welding - to plate inside of large cylinders

The cylinder to be plated and the cylindrical plating are coaxially spaced on a stand at a set distance above a surface, leaving space for gas to escape. A cylindrical explosive charge is arranged internally of the plating and a further cylindrical explosive charge is arranged surrounding the cylinder to be plated. The ignition device hangs above the charges and is operated so that both charges are set off at the same time. A shock front then moves from the top of the cylinder downwards and explosion gases escape beneath the appts.
