Reducing nitrogen content of a gas - using refractory oxide, nickel and copper catalyst

The N2 content of a gas, which also contains an N oxide and a reduction material, is reduced by placing the gas in contact with a catalyst obtd. by (a) mixing >=1 refractory oxide in the form of powder and/or fibres with powdered Ni and powdered Cu, (b) shaping and hardening the mixt. obtd. and, (c) heat activating the shaped and hardened mixt.
