In a strip-type air filter in which a strip of filter medium is wound off an upper feed roll, passes over a filter surface through lateral guides in a stationary frame and is wound up on a lower roll, the lateral guides have >=1 fold-away part on the dust-laden air side of the filter, providing an opening for the insertion of filter strip, and the feed and wind-up rolls are constructed as cassettes interconnected by the filter strip and capable of connection to the frame. Specif., the guides consist of U-shaped rails, on which the limbs facing the dust-laden air can be folded back parallel to the direction of the air flow. Replacement of the filter strip is simplified.
