PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a reaction between an electrolyte and graphite particles used in a negative electrode caused due to expansion and contraction in charging/discharging, thereby improving cycle characteristics, in a secondary battery.SOLUTION: A negative electrode for a secondary battery includes graphite particles which have a true density of 2.18 or more, and a ratio I(110)/I(004) between a peak intensity I(110) of the (110) plane of graphite crystals and a peak intensity I(110) of the (004) plane of 0.6 or more, the peak intensities being obtained by an XRD measurement. In the negative electrode, a pore diameter peak of a negative electrode active material layer obtained by performing pore diameter distribution measurement using a mercury intrusion method has a main peak with no sub peak in a range of 3-50% of an average particle size obtained by preforming particle size distribution measurement of the graphite particles using a laser diffraction method. |
