摘要 1483260 Dual fuel IC engines FUEL RESEARCH INSTITUTE 23 Aug 1974 [27 Aug 1973] 37209/74 Heading F1B Apparatus for controlling fuel supply to an I.C. engine having an operator-controlled fuel injection rod comprises a stop member for attachment to the engine to stop movement of the rod in a position corresponding to a partial load and to prevent further movement towards a position corresponding to full load, a petrol jet for mounting in an air inlet of the engine, a resilient linkage for connection between the operator's control and the fuel injection rod, a valve for opening to admit a supply of petrol to the petrol jet when the linkage reaches a position in which the stop member stops movement of the fuel injection rod; and means for regulating the supply of petrol to the petrol jet in response to the position of the operator's control and the mass flow rate of air inducted by the engine. The engine is fed with fuel oil by an injection pump 1 controlled by a pedal 6a through a connecting rod 5, bar 4 and control rod 2. An adjustable stop 22 limits the control rod 2 to 75% of its full load movement. The connecting rod 5 also has a plate 6 which co-operates with a stop 8 on a cable 7 to operate a butterfly valve 10 in a simple carburetter choke tube 11 in the inlet pipe 12. Up to three quarters of its travel the pedal 6a operates only the control rod 2, so that the engine is supplied with diesel oil only, thereafter the plate 21 closes the switch 18 and opens the fuel valve 15. Further depression of the pedal opens the butterfly valve 10, so that petrol or gasoline fuel/air mixture is also drawn into the engine. The liquid fuel used to form the fuel/air mixture may be petrol, gasoline, alcohol, benzene, paraffin or kerosene and, in general, boils between 30‹C and 175‹C. Preferably there is no further increase in the amount of diesel oil injected after the supply of fuel/air mixture commences. A float chamber may be provided in the fuel/air mixture supply system, or fuel may be supplied direct to a spray nozzle by a fuel pump.
