<p>An outer metal ring is mounted to the vehicle and has the material of its inner surface cut away to form hooks. An inner ring made of an elastic material is fitted round the instrument and has a number of elastic loops, corresponding to the hooks in the outer ring, on its outer surface. The loops are formed by two legs which leave the outer surface of the ring tangentially, converge, then are joined at their outer end by a straight section. These loops are placed over the hooks in the outer ring and are held in position by a metal retaining ring rivetted to it. Damping is provided by the elastic deformation of the loops.</p> |
