Title cpds. are of formula (where n = 2 or 3 and R = lower (pref. 1-4C) alkyl). They may be prepd. by reacting alkylbenzylmalonate derivs. of formula (where R1 = lower (pref. 1-4C) alkyl) with guaidine, and may be halogenated to give the corresp. dihalopyrimidines, which are inters. for pharmaceutically active 2,4-diamino-6-halo-pyrimidine derivs.
