<p>A rocket casing is of two part construction and designed to fit inside the launching tube so that their is a minimum escape of gases during firing, and the design gives improved accuracy. The launching tube is also of two part construction, with a larger diameter forward portion, which may screw onto the rear portion, or they may be secured by screws. The shoulder formed inside is rounded or chamfered. The profile of the rocket casing is also stepped, the forward portion (12) being of smaller diameter than the rear (7), with a sloping sealing ring (19) at the step, this forming a seal. At this junction point, under the sealing ring, a groove may be formed around the inner, forward portion (12). The latter portion will become separated from the rear portion (7) after firing, so that it is discharged, with improved accuracy by the rear portion.</p> |
