1468410 Plate heat exchangers KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO KK 8 May 1974 [9 May 1973] 20386/74 Heading F4S In a heat exchanger comprising plates 13 spaced apart by edge spacers 14, the plates are of a synthetic plastics material and the spacers have a coating layer of synthetic resin, the spacers being sealed (e.g. by welding) to the plates and the assembly being mounted between cover-plates 11, 12 of rigid material interconnected by clamping bolts 14 which may extend outside (as shown) or through the plates 13. The assembly includes also, inlet and outlet connections 18, 22, and 20, 23 for the heat exchanging fluids Ga, Gb. The fluids Ga, Gb may be in contra-flow or in parallel flow relation. The plates 13, within the boundary of the spacers 14, may be corrugated. Each plate 13 may consist of carbon-fibre dispersed in a continuous film or sheet of synthetic resin. Or each sheet 13 may comprise a metal sheet 13b (Fig. 3) covered on each face by a synthetic resin film 13a. The spacers 14 may each comprise a rectangular frame covered (as shown in Fig. 3) with the synthetic resin material, the frames each having portions thereof cut away to give access between the interplate fluid passages and the respective inlet and outlet connections. Said connections 18-22 and 20- 23 may also be lined with synthetic resin (Fig. 4). Examples of suitable plate thickness and alternative synthetic resin materials are given in the Specification. |
