<p>The chassis of a vehicle, designed to withstand impact, has a tunnel (9) across the floor, under the front seat, (6) welded to the lower side members (3), particularly intended to withstand side impact. This tunnel forms an integral part of an inverted T shaped unit, with a hollow central vertical column (8) attached at the top to a cross member (5) spanning the side columns (4) at the level of the top of the seat thus forming a support for the front seat. The structure can be used for attachment of further anti crash devices, safety belts, etc.</p> |
