Glass tube cutting - by thermal shock using horizontally rotatable disc having a swivel arm workpiece holder

The method used involves clamping the workpiece at one end so that on rotation round an axis one end is some distance away from the rotational axis and the workpiece intersects this axis at the point of cutting where it is subjected to localised heating followed by sudden cooling. The device used comprises a horizontal rotational axis disc with a peripheral swivel arm workpiece holder and a slide with a burner and water jet cooling device acting on the splitting off point. The system is used for producing angled cut glass tubing and bars, is fast and requires inexpensive equipment.
