The defects can be located in various depths and are determined non-destructively. The operational amplifier of the appts. contains a capacitor which forms a control signal. The capacitor is connected to the amplifier of the receiver of the reflected signals for compensating the losses which are caused by the dispersion and the dying out of the supersonic oscillations. A current generator which is connected to the capacitor has a variable internal resistance and comprises a positive AC feedback. It serves one of the stages of the operational amplifier.
