For illumination and observation of body cavities and tubes, partic. the upper large intestine, the appts. has a rechargeable battery in the lower part of the handle. The body tube is pref. of polyethylene releasably attached to the head, and has a scale on the outside. The instrument has a closure for the body tube, which, when the eyepiece is opened, can be withdrawn rearward from the head. A resilient snap ring is in an annular groove in the head, for releasable attachment of the body tube; it engages in an annular groove of the tube, and can be spread to release the tube. There are no electric leads, and the light source is protected against soiling; the body tube and its closure may be disposable.
