<p>The aircraft has a gas turbine engine with a fan to act on an inner engine which drives the fan and 2 controllable pivot jets with compressed air. For vertical takeoff, the resulting thrust of the 2 pivot nozzles impinges at or slightly in front of the centre of gravity of the aircraft. The driving medium, under low pressure, is conducted out of the engine into a further jet at the rear part of the aircraft, to control the longitudinal inclination of the aircraft. The power/wt. ratio is increased, and controllability of the aircraft is improved as regards attitude during vertical takeoff.</p> |
