1436912 Latches INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 19 March 1974 [22 March 1973] 12103/74 Heading E2A [Also in Division H1] A drawer control panel assembly containing electronic circuitry e.g. of a radio receiver comprises a control panel 1 (Fig. 2) pivoted to the front of drawer 2 and containing finger actuable control devices 3 e.g. for preset tuning, and corresponding indicators 4. Wings 8 of the panel fit over the forward ends of the drawer sides 5 and are pivoted about axis 9-9 so that pressure on the control devices does not tilt the panel, but pressure above the control devices does so. A trim plate attached to the wings may surround the control devices without fixture thereto for tilting in response to pressure thereon (Figs. 3a, 3b not shown). Spring strips 10 retained 'by slots in the drawer sides engage slots 12 in the wings for restoration of the control panel. The drawer and contents are inserted and locked into a housing 2a (Fig. 5) of the equipment, until released by tilting the panel. Projections 14 on flange 13 of the housing support a leaf spring 15 retained by protuberances 16 and the spring ends have upwardly urged projections 17 entering slots of the housing bottom to engage slots 18 of the drawer: which is guided into the housing by grooves 19 and tongues 21; a compression spring at the rear of the housing bearing on the end 6 of the drawer when it is fully engaged and retained by projections 17. On application of pressure on the upper part of the panel, wings 8 are tilted to disengage projections 17 for protrusion of the drawer by the spring; after which it may be removed completely or until projections 17 engage a rearward step thereon. The drawer is restored by pressure on the panel below the tilting axis 9-9. The assembly may be orientated in any sense, and the wings are replaceable by a mechanical equivalent to depress projections 17. |
