Microwave plasma burner for spectral analysis - quartz glass sleeve around base of flame

A microwave plasma burner designed for maximum energy transfer, with a main outer tube around the double walled inner tube, the gas and sample substance being passed through the latter, and with a space between the double walls of the inner tube, for cooling air, has more than one bore through the head of the jet, and this jet includes a collar supporting a quartz glass tube so that the tube encloses the base of the flame. This tube passes through a collar around the inside of the main outer tube, and extends above it to terminate flush with the base of the housing at the top which incorporates the viewing window. In another design, a further sealing tube surrounds the bottom joint line of the quartz glass tube. A further design incorporates a side inlet jet for gas in the main outer tube.
