The circuit breaker consists of a fixed lower part and a lock-on upper part containing the fuse and the circuit breaker switching mechanism and contacts. The lower part has two blade contacts which are electrically connected over spring-loaded plate contacts to current rails leading to and from the lower part. With the upper part out, the rails are electrically connected on to each blade contact. The upper part has insulating rods which push the plate contacts down away from the rails and blades, breaking the connection between them. When the upper part is lowered further its own blade contacts connect with the lower parts blade contacts. When lowered further still, spring contacts on the sides of the rods connect the circuit breaker inside the upper part between the lower part rails and its blade contacts.
