The grid for electron b bes, consisting of tensioned wires with a jacket used as a solder, is produced by winding the wire on a metal frame. followed by heating in an inert gas atmosphere to a temperature, at which the melting of the jacket provides a soldered connection at the contact points of the wires. The protective has to have an atomic weight at least ten times that of hydrogen, such as argon. This production process may be used for cross-wound disc grids, where the soldering takes place both on the intersection point of wires and the contact points between the wires and the frame. The frame itself may be provided with the soldering jacket, pref. of gold or an alloy with high gold content.
|
