1386997 Bowling alleys BRUNSWICK CORP 12 July 1972 [12 July 1971] 32562/72 Heading A6D A pinfall indicator 5 for visually indicating pins standing on a bowling lane is mounted on a hood 1 for a bowling ball return lift positioned at the approach end of the lane. The panel 5 has a plurality of discs 8 each representing a particular pin, and means to illuminate each disc. Means for sensing which bowling pins are standing is arranged to supply electrical signals representative of pinfalls to control means which operates electrical power means to the disc illuminating means so that discs corresponding to pins standing are illuminated. The means for supplying electrical power to the discs and the control means are preferably sited adjacent the illuminating means e.g. in the ball hood 1, so that the discs are illuminated with substantially equal intensity irrespective of the total number of discs illuminated. Further the power supply to the illuminating means is of low voltage e.g. 6 volts to avoid damage due to vibrations. The control means preferably comprises transistorized light driven circuits which are responsive to signals from pin detecting means or from an automatic scoring device. Two indicators may be arranged on the same ball return hood to indicate pins standing in an adjacent pair of lanes. Suitable electric circuitry is illustrated Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown).
