Cutting edge smoother or sharpener for razor blades has the blade (9) fixed centrally in a container on a rotary shaft with its cutting edge or edges. It projects into a gap formed by a guide faces fixed to the shaft. It can then be turned in a soapy or similar colloidal fluid in the container by means of a turning device. The adjacent guide faces include an angle of 30 deg. to 60 deg. or 120 deg. to 150 deg., while a holder for the blade consists of two hinged cylinder halves with a blade acceptor at their dividing face.
