<p>Waste water is delivered as a downward jet into a treatment tank, from above the surface of liquid in the tank, via a venturi ejector into which air is entrained by the jet, the divergent inlet of the venturi being open to atmosphere. Pref. in addition the ejector on the inlet line, liquid is recycled from the bottom of the tank, by a pump to be returned via a second, air-entraining, venturi ejector. System is useful for the biological purifn. of waste water. The elimination of turbine agitators or other powered aerators reduces the capital and operational costs of the plant as well as reducing noise and maintenance requirements. The smooth circulation resulting from the jets is partic. suited to the growth of desirable micro-organisms.</p> |
