PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared detection device with which it is possible to suppress influences due to heat from an IC chip during scanning.SOLUTION: The infrared detection device comprises: a lens for making an infrared ray pass therethrough; an infrared sensor 402b in which infrared detection elements are arranged in two or more rows, and the positions of infrared detection elements in adjacent rows are shifted as viewed from a direction perpendicular to the rotation axis of scan that is approximately parallel to at least one of the rows, the infrared sensor scanning a detection object range by being rotated around the rotation axis of scan and outputting an output signal indicating the heat image of the detection object range; and an IC chip 204 for calculating the temperature of an object present in the detection object range by processing the output signal of the infrared sensor 402b, and generating heat due to a drive for the signal processing, the infrared sensor 402b and the IC chip 204 being almost juxtaposed in a direction along the rotation axis of scan of the infrared sensor 402b.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 40B
