Glass which is practically impermeable to high frequency electromagnetic waves comprises a thin layer of low m.pt. glass contg. metal and opt. pigments coated onto a glass plate by screen printing to provide a number of miniature holes in the layer, which is then fired to cause the layer to adhere and quenched by blowing cold air onto it. The layer is pref. finally coated with resin. The glass paste is made by mixing a low melting glass frit and a metal powder with an organic binder in a solvent. The glass finds application in microwave oven doors. The inside of the oven can thus be seen, while the heating energy is contained.
|
