A mobile crane rides on rails in a trench. The trench is provided with a pluality of vertical serrations. Pads having mating serrations are provided on the crane. A wedge is movable behind each pad to force the serrations of the pad into engagement with the serrations on the trench. The wedge locks the crane against movement transversely of the rail while the serrations lock the crane against longitudinal movement. Modifications are shown using pins rather than serrations and multiple wedges rather than single wedge and pad.
