The disc is made of steel and the shaft rotates at around 3300 rev/min. The shaft rotates in a holder body which can swivel about a horizontal axis at right angles to the shaft in order to adjust the operational height of the disc. The holder body can be swivelled using a threaded spindle screwed into another piece, on the holder body or on the edging cutter rame. The spindle is coupled to a hand wheel on the guide handle of the unit by a chain or belt drive. The eccentric mounting of the disc produces an impacting force which increases the effectiveness of the cutter.
