Aminophenoxyalkyl silanes of formula (I) below, or dimers of formula (II), or polymers having units of formula (III): (where n is 2-4; X is 1-8C linear or branched alkoxy; Y and Y1 are methyl, ethyl or phenyl and in formula (I) can also be 1-8C alkoxy). Also cross-linked silanes formed from units of (I) (where X, Y and Y1 are O). Also copolymers of the above with silanes with 1-3 1-2C alkoxy gps. are prepd. by hydrogenating the corresp. nitrophenols in the presence of e.g., a Pd-C catalyst.
