1429603 Sintering apparatus for iron ore METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 26 June 1974 [2 July 1973] 28451/74 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions F3-F4] Iron ore sintering apparatus comprises a travelling grate 2 with a sintering section 3 &c. cooling section 4, air ignition device (not shown) in front of section 3, feeders 6 and 7 for charging grate protective material and charge material, wind boxes 5a and 5b below the grate connected to dust collecting plant and beyond the grate arranged in superposed fashion a grate and crusher 18, 19, a bin 20, a screen 32, a roll crusher 31, screens 22 and 28 and discharge belt conveyers 23, 24, 29 and 30. In a modification (Fig. 2) the screen 32 and roll crusher 31 are omitted. Air from the cooling section 4 passes through barbs of separators 9a, 9b and 9c drawn by blowers 10a, 10b, fine grain material passing from containers 12b on to a conveyer 13. Similar material from containers 12a below the sintering section 3 also discharges on to conveyer 13, from which conveyer 14 recycles it. The screen 32 removes oversize particles (e.g. over 50 mm.) passing them to the roll crusher 31, while screen 22 passes top sized material (e.g. 25-50 mm.) to discharge conveyer 23, medium sized material (e.g. 15-25 mm.) to conveyer 24 for use as grate protective material and the remainder to screen 28. The latter passes lower sized material (e.g. 0-5 mm.) to conveyer 29 as return fines and larger material (e.g. 5-15 mm.) to conveyer 30 as sintered product. Two screening and communicating units may be disposed side-by-side and used alternately enabling one to be repaired if necessary without shutting down the plant. Storage hoppers (36, Fig. 4) may be disposed at the side of grate 2 associated with metering devices (37) and feed conveyers (38). |
