1454698 Xylose from pentosan-containing materials SHOMEN SOKERI OSAKEYHTIO 18 April 1974 [25 April 1973] 29464/75 Divided out of 1454697 Heading C2S Xylose is obtained from a pentose-rich solution made by acid hydrolysis of a pentosancontaining raw material by (a) removing suspended solids by filtration; removing inorganic salts and a major portion of the organic impurities and colour by ion exclusion; removing the remaining colour and other impurities by treating the solution with an ion exchange resin and activated carbon; and fractionating the resulting solution, byion exchangechromatography to provide a highly pure xylose solution. |
