<p>Trialkylsulphonium salts where one of alkyls is 12-20C and the two others, identical or different, are 1-12C, the sum of carbon atoms in the two longest chains not exceeding 24, and where the salt anion is an alkyl sulphate where the alkyl is 1-24C pref. 6-20C and esp. has the same number of carbon atoms as the longest alkyl chain of the sulphonium molecule. Pref. at least one of the sulphonium alkyls is OH substd. and pref. salts are mixts. of alkyl and trialkylsulphonium double sulphates where the longest sulphonium alkyl chain is 12-18C and pref. alkyl sulphate is mixt. of 12-18C alkylsulphates. Compds. are prepd. in conventional manner e.g. reating dialkyl sulphate with dialkyl sulphide. Compds. are textile softeners and can be incorporated in non-ionic detergent compsns. or in rinse water at concns. of 0.01-10% esp. 0.05-0.2% by wt. of dry textile to be treated.</p> |
