A mixture for preventing or reducing the adhesions of solidified metal droplets to workpieces during welding includes a water-dissolved polymer to act as a binder, forming a solution in which is suspended a finely divided chemically inactive sealing substance and a finely divided electrically conducting material. Pre. there is provided 1-10% polymer such as polyvinyl alcohol and/or polyvinyl ether 2-10% sealing substance such as SiO2 and/or bentonite and 5-10% graphite, dissolved or suspended in water. The mixt. is prepd. by dissolving the polymer in water and stirring in the sealing substance and electrically conducting substance.
