Articulated joint for fold up camp beds etc. - has gearing in swivel joints allowing automatic extension of all frames in one hand movement

The articulated joint comprises essentially three parts which extend to form the leg and bed frames and swivel round to fold flat in the non-use position. Gear drive members are mounted on two of these parts wherein the gear drive member on the part which is adapted to rotate 180 deg. round a first part i.e. on the back rest frame has a larger diameter and more teeth than the gearing on the third joint member i.e. on the bed leg which is locked in the position of use by the second joint member i.e. back rest frame which is provided with the gearing. These two gearing mechanisms only mesh in the first swivel zone of the second joint member and as the second joint member is moved back from its second to its first swivel range the two gearing mechanisms are automatically brought into engagement once more by a further mechanism. Although the bed can be unfolded automatically in one step the back rest can still be adjusted individually.
