<p>1409854 Bacteriological sampling sets M & H PLASTICS Inc 31 Aug 1973 41184/73 Heading C6F [Also in Division A5] A disposable container comprises upper and lower tubular parts 10, 18 each sealed at one end 12, 20 with their open ends fitted closely together, an elongate medical device (e.g. a swab 14) being secured in the upper part at 12 and a liquid medium 30 for bacterial growth or colour reaction being sealed into the lower part by a breakable seal 22. The upper tube has a larger inside diameter than the lower tube and fits telescopically over it and the open end of the lower tube is at an angle 26 to that of the upper tube. The swab with the upper tube is withdrawn for use and when replaced the swab is forced down through the breakable seal 22 into the liquid. The container is made of plastics tubing. It may be used for hypodermic needles and syringes instead of swabs.</p> |
