1510021 Reflex reflectors C W WYCKOFF 24 March 1975 [12 June 1974] 12151/75 Heading G2J [Also in Divisions B2 El and G5] A device for providing directional markings on the surface of highways, air-strips or the like, consist of a thin strip 1 of a saw-toothed cross-section, the short upright surfaces 1" of which being provided with a retroreflecting system returning a predetermined colour for incident white light and the long surfaces 1' having a diffusely reflective coating. The strip is attached to the surface by an adhesive 10. The rectroreflective system includes a reflecting silver or white backing 4, covered by one or more layers 6 of refracting spheres, fibres, cylinders set in a coloured transparent resin binder 6', and protected by a low-friction waterproof layer 8. The device is made by printing the superposed layers of the above system in spaced parallel lines on a plastic sheet which is then press formed between rollers to the saw-tooth configuration in registry with these lines. |
