1408499 Releasable fastenings WINGARD Ltd 9 April 1974 [12 April 1973] 17544/73 Heading E2A [Also in Division Dl] A cable 6 is attached to a fitting such as a seat belt buckle by means of a ferrule 5 swaged or otherwise to the cable, having aligned grooves 7 which receive spaced guides on the fitting and a stop abutment on the fitting which limits movement of the ferrule relative to the fitting under a force tending to separate them. As shown, the fitting comprises a frame 1 having a window 3 defining side edges 8 which comprise the guides, a tongue 2 extending at an acute angle to the frame and terminating in a web 4 which constitutes the stop abutment. The window 3, adjacent the web 4 is of reduced width and groove 7 extend at an acute angle to the ferrule axis. In a further embodiment ribs or keys 11 Fig 4 (not shown) are formed in side walls (9) of the fitting which the ferrule grooves slidingly engage the rear wall (10) of the fitting having an opening (12) forming the stop abutment. |
