Window actuating handle with mechanism protector - has square plug with groove for shearing under excessive force

The actuating handle rotates within a rosette and this handle is coupled to the driving pinion of the window locking mechanism. A weak section is deliberately designed into this mechanism. This ensures that in the case of an overloading and failure the weak component is readily dismantled and replaced without dismantling the whole mechanism. The handle shank has a square central hole into which a square plug fits whose other end is connected to the square hole of the pinion. A neck (8) is machined into this plug and this weak position is a rounded groove which covers the whole circumference of this plug. In case of jamming this weak spot is sheared and this pin is readily replaced by removing the handle and inserting a new plug.
