<p>The filing cabinet is provided with a wooden or metal draw with four vertical side walls (1, 2, 3, 4) and a base (5) which is provided with a recess (6) which serves as an abutment for a finger when the drawer is to be pulled out and when the drawer is extended serves to raise the documents which may be stored in the drawer. The drawer is designed so that it is first extended outwards only to a limited extent until it can be completely drawn out by the second mechanism. This opening system may be designed so that the initial displacement mechanism is part of the front wall (1) of the drawer below whilst the full extension mechanism is part of the base (5) of the upper drawer. In this way the index finger can be used to extend the drawer until it can be pulled out in the normal way and no unsightly handles are required.</p> |
