The propelling mechanism is actuated by the sliding cap (3) which fits over the front part of the pencil housing (11). The cap is coupled to the mechanism positively by means of a spring cage. The tip (17) accommodating the mechanism is fixed to the front part of the housing by a screwed sleeve. A further such sleeve (14) can be used to secure the tip to a guide tube (10) enclosing the mechanism and to which the first sleeve is solidly fixed. The first sleeve can be pressed onto the tube in a position to match the length of the front part of the housing. It can have a flange of larger diameter, fitting inside the cap and knurled along the edge.
