Coating of skis with coloured and clear lacquers - with successive wet-on-wet coats contg inter-reacting components

In the lacquering of ski surfaces (A) a base lacquer is applied contg. a reaction accelerator for the surface lacquer and while it is still wet, and (B) a one- or two-component surface lacquer is applied contg. a cross-linking component for the base lacquer. Due to the quick sequence of coatings, the process can be completed within a single day. The work reqd. is reduced by half, and the total time to 25% by drying at 30 degrees C, or 5% by I.R. drying at 80-90 degrees C, compared with the usual multistage process. The risk of cracking of ABS plastics film on the curved part of the ski at low temps. is eliminated. Since one-component lacquers with long pot life are used for the base coat, wastage of matl. is reduced.
